ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE
South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This permanent position will be held in our Perth office. We understand and value the benefits of flexibility and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).

As Senior Mine Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking the medium to long term mine planning deliverables for South32’s Worsley’s mining operations.
Reporting to the Manager Mine Planning, key responsibilities include:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment, and sustainable development
- Development of optimised mine plans and production schedules for Worsley’s mining operation
- Deliver conceptual designs for pits, roads and mining related infrastructure
- Assess capital and operating cost requirements that underpin the mine plans
- Support the interface between group planning, operational planning and projects and studies teams
ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Strong technical and operational experience in surface mining operations
- Demonstrated experience across a range of mine planning functions (optimisation, mine design, production scheduling, capital infrastructure design, cost analysis and forecasting)
- High level of competency in mine planning software applicable to surface mining operations
- Ability to think critically, analyse problems and provide solutions in a complex mine planning environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively and influence key stakeholder groups including functions, operations, and senior leadership
- Registered as a professional with an affiliated association as required by JORC
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (mining) with a minimum 5 years of relevant mine planning experience
