THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Training Supervisor the Trainer & Assessor, Drill is responsible for contributing continuous improvement of skills and safety practices within the drilling and blasting teams.
This is a permanent position, with an 8/6 (dayshift) roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.
Supporting the Drill & Blast department, the role requires safe and timely achievement of targeted outcomes by:
- Conduct Verification of Competencies for specific equipment and/or High-Risk Work Licenses (HRWL) to ensure new team members are competent and authorised to work.
- Ensuring that the assessment activity complies with the principles of assessment (validity, fairness, reliability, flexibility, authenticity, currency)
- Deliver all training programs within their competency so that production quality, training, safety, health and environment requirements are satisfied.
- Coordinating and executing training and assessment in accordance with Pilbara Minerals training standards and site-specific training plans
- Identifying any out of date, inaccurate or unsuitable content in site training material and bring to the attention of the Training Supervisor
- Support D&B operations as required.
- Delivering face-to-face structured training in both one-on-one situations as well as small group training in classroom and workplace environments
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with people at all levels.
- Develop & review specific Drill & Blast procedures to ensure safe and productive operations.
- Design comprehensive training programs for drillers and blasting crews, encompassing equipment operation, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Collect feedback from drillers and blasting crews to identify areas for improvement in training programs.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate new technologies and techniques into training initiatives.
- Assess the performance of trainees through practical evaluations and knowledge assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback and develop remedial training plans as needed.
ABOUT YOU:
- 5 year’s minimum open pit mining or quarry experience operating Epiroc D65 MKI & II’s.
- Demonstrate experience and passion for delivering your technical expertise to others in an engaging and professional way.
- Have maintained currency with the plant/equipment and work activities in which you train/assess.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships and facilitate presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coach to improve performance and upskill.
- Specific experience operating drilling and blasting equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrating commitment to Pilbara Minerals safety culture and values.
- Minimum WA Manual C class driver’s licence.
- Latest TAE Assessor Skill Set or Work Instructor skill set. Or Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
- HR Licence.
