The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner (Shutdowns) purpose is to provide an effective maintenance planning function by planning and scheduling Shutdown Maintenance activities through the maintenance management systems (PRONTO & Microsoft Project).
This is a permanent full-time position which operates on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of PLS safety and environmental policies and maintain an understanding of the main principles.
- Report any situation, event or incident that has affected or has the potential to harm the environment to management, the Senior OHS Advisor or the Resident Manager.
- Support procedures and work practices aimed at preventing accidents or injuries.
- Regularly audit team’s work environment and promote a high level of safety awareness.
- Actively participating in safety meetings and follow-up or feedback on issues raised are undertaken in an effective manner.
- Identify workplace hazards and taking appropriate corrective actions.
Communication
Effectively communicate with people by:
- Regularly liaise with Maintenance and Production Supervisors as well as Metallurgy representatives detailing changing priorities and additional equipment that is to be repaired or modified.
- Regularly update the Planning & Reliability Superintendent on planning schedules and issues.
- Ensure that Supply personnel are aware of maintenance order priorities for Shutdown stock requirements.
- Provide clear guidelines for site equipment requirements for vendors and repairers.
Core Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee maintenance and shutdown plans to ensure the smooth operation.
- Utilise MS Project Professional.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and procurement, to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Planner in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Expertise in MS Project, with a strong understanding of its maintenance planning modules.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Costs
Assist in developing and facilitating the site Maintenance budget and monitoring costs on a regular basis to ensure that budget levels are not exceeded by:
- Provide assistance in the review of BOMs and spares to ensure adequate spares are held in stock for maintenance activities.
- Obtaining sufficient quotes to establish industry competitive offers are being made by equipment and service providers.
- Ensuring invoices are accurate and appropriately cost coded prior to approval.
- Providing updates on budget spend throughout the month to Planning & Reliability Superintendent.
- Evaluating regularly the labour requirements to achieve intended work program.
