THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Blast Supervisor the Shotfirer is responsible for To carry out open pit charging and blasting activities safely and in accordance with specific blast requirements.
This is a permanent position, with an 8/6 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Striving to achieve a positive workplace culture that reflects the Pilbara Purpose.
- Load and fire blast holes in accordance with the blast plan, to prepare the ground for production mining crews.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures in relation to designing, charging, and firing of open pit blasts. This includes being an appointed Shotfirer and Magazine Keeper.
- Report on and fix hazards when encountering them to ensure a safe working environment.
- Account for all explosives used and participate in magazine and shot reconciliations as per the statutory requirements and company procedures.
- Accountable for all pre and post-blast inspections of the designated blast area including final inspections of tie-ins and misfired areas and submitted by end of the following shift.
- Ensure the required quality of documentation and completion is achieved for presentation for transfer to records.
- Responsible for ensuring the removal of all delineation and signage from blasting areas before the firing of shots.
- Maintain occupational health and safety standards relevant to operations.
- Ensure occupational health and safety issues are considered in all aspects of duties performed.
- Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to occupational health and safety issues.
ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum one years’ experience as a Shotfirer in an open pit environment
- WA Shotfirers License
- EIS experience
- Dangerous Goods Security Card
- Shotfirers License.
- HR License
