THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Drill & Blast Superintendent the Drill Supervisor is responsible for providing ongoing leadership to drilling operations on site with the outcome of achieving weekly budget targets and ensuring progressive and sustainable improvements within the Department that are consistent with Mine Business Goals.
This is a permanent position, with an 8/6 (dayshift), 7/7 (nightshift) roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.
Supporting the Drill & Blast Superintendent the role requires safe and timely achievement of targeted outcomes by:
- Provide leadership, through coaching, mentoring, and support for the professional development of the Drilling Team and the achievement of a positive workplace culture that reflects Pilbara Purpose.
- Coordinate Drilling teams to ensure safe and effective drill operations, planning and communication to the teams and to various Contractors within the open pit environment.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures this includes Daily pit inspections.
- Work closely with blasting supervisor to plan, act & deliver on daily, weekly & monthly mining schedules.
- Ensure that the Team’s Safety, Environmental, Community and Production targets are achieved.
- Coordinate contractors and ensure quality, training, safety compliance and that contract conditions are maintained, to deliver to budget requirements, and corporate compliance.
- Provide input and feedback in relation to drill pattern design and continuous improvement of the drilling process to maximise productivity and efficiency.
- Coordinate the maintenance and repair of all equipment utilised by the drilling team to ensure equipment is available when required.
- Ensure work area preparation is of the standard to deliver quality holes to blast crew in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate the utilisation of equipment to maximise efficiency whilst minimising costs.
- Ensuring delivery of the weekly and monthly plans is better than Budgeted costs by implementing stretch targets.
- Ensure the shift change process is effective, conducted in minimal time and the hot seat procedure in conformance to agreed procedure.
- Identify & address risks impacting the business plan.
- Ensuring quality control processes are in place and used across the business unit.
- Participate when required in the recruitment and selection of personnel under your authority.
- Identify, promote and actively participate in the implementation of projects that demonstrates working in an environment of continuous improvement.
ABOUT YOU:
- Three to five years open pit mining or quarry experience.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word.
- Dangerous Goods Security Card (or application).
- Manual C Class licence.
