THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Mining Technical Services Manager, the Senior Drill & Blast Engineer is responsible for the planning, optimising, and monitoring of Drill and Blast activities. This role is also accountable for the design of drill and blast patterns whilst ensuring compliance to the D&B management plan, environmental regulations and managing costs.
This is a permanent full-time position which operates on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the drill and blast function to ensure blasted stocks are maintained to achieve mining rates within budget.
- Produce and review of drill and blast designs and tie-ins.
- Monitor and reconciliation of drilling and blasting performance in areas such as drilling rates, spatial and physical compliance against daily and weekly plans, wall attainment and costs.
- Weekly and monthly reconciliation of blast performance including the review of QA/QC data, fragmentation analysis and dilution/ore loss from blasting.
- Develop and improve the Drill and Blast function's systems and procedures to ensure, clearly defined processes exist and are continually improved.
- Provide inputs and planning for the annual business plan and forecasts.
- Manage Drill and Blast related software applications and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement projects and trials.
- Assist with inputs for the short-term production planning.
- Providing highly accurate data entry, validation, and technical analysis
- Upholding safety and contributing to activities that ensure compliance with environmental management.
ABOUT YOU:
- Degree in Mining Engineer / Open Pit Mining Certification
- WA C class driver’s license
DESIRABLE:
- All work experience required for a WA Quarry manager’s certificate of competency
- Shotfirer’s Ticket
- Current proficiency in Providing First Aid
