ABOUT PERTH OFFICE
South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a twelve month fixed term full position and will be based in our Perth offices. We understand and value the benefits of flexibility and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).

As Specialist Major Projects, you will shape the future of procurement across South32's Australian Operations portfolio. In this engaging role, you'll guide our strategic sourcing initiatives for major capital projects, bringing together suppliers and services that help our operations thrive. You'll assist with developing innovative procurement approaches that enhance project success while working collaboratively across pre-project planning and implementation phases.
Reporting to the Manager Major Projects & Procurement, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Support strategic procurement and commercial negotiations for Major Projects Supply activities, leveraging market intelligence to drive innovative solutions while maintaining commercial oversight of spend, ensuring optimal outcomes and sustainable value creation
• Foster collaborative relationships across stakeholders, suppliers, and operations teams to develop and execute robust sourcing strategies while guiding tender preparation and championing performance excellence through proactive supplier engagement
• Drive cross-functional success through deep category expertise and relationship management, ensuring seamless alignment between project needs and market capabilities while cultivating positive supplier partnerships and resolving commercial matters thoughtfully
• Champion local supplier development and innovation initiatives while nurturing an inclusive team environment that promotes continuous improvement and sustainable business practices in line with South32 Standards
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
• Bring your proven expertise in supply roles (5+ years), where you've assisted with shaping commercial strategies and led negotiations, particularly in civil and construction environments
• Showcase your strategic mindset through your prior commercial experience, ideally gained in mining or capital-intensive industries, where you've crafted innovative solutions to complex challenges
• Embrace an agile approach to problem-solving, bringing fresh perspectives and adaptable solutions to our dynamic project environment while fostering positive team collaboration.
• Share our passion for excellence with your can-do attitude, using your collaborative spirit to build solid partnerships and drive successful project outcomes
• Prior understanding of SAP and Ariba systems preferred
Qualifications for this position are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project, Commerce, Finance, Engineering or related disciplines
