The Assistant Project Manager position exists to support the project team and Directors in achieving Deloitte objectives of delivering successful projects, from inception through construction delivery to completion of the end product within the agreed timeframes and budget.
As the client’s representative, this person is responsible for the management and coordination of all aspects of the project, to ensure compliance with programs and cost budgets as approved by the client.

What will your typical day look like?
Project Program & Reporting 30%
- Establish a master program and detail programs for each stage, as a tool for the project management team to monitor, control and report on compliance by all parties with programs as approved by the client.
- Monitor and report all program performance, progress in terms of time, cost and quality.
- Document the management system in a project procedures manual, clearly defining responsibilities of the team.
- Provide project Monthly Report to clients.
- Upon completion of a project, oversee commissioning, practical completion, defects list, end of project report.
Consultant & Design Management 30%
- Work with client to establish a Project Brief to meet requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants to analyse design as it evolves against buildability, Project Brief and budget requirements.
- Carry out ongoing value management of the design to maximize the value to the client.
- Assist in the design and coordination of the delivery of mock-up rooms, samples, prototypes and display suites if required.
- Assist the Client in negotiation of consultant fees, commercial terms and conditions and appointment of consultants including drafting Scope of Works and assessment of responses.
- Coordinate the activities of all consultants and manage performance and oversee quality inspections.
- Manage and carry out design reviews in consultation with the Client and consultants.
- Provide assistance to clients and their specialist consultants employed directly including auditors, legal advisors, PR consultants, sales agents and managing agents.
- Represent the client in meetings that require coordination of works including meetings with consultants, Contractor, sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure effective communication is established between the design team, the authorities and the Contractor.
- With the assistance of the Client and the consultants, establish required approvals, monitor and manage the until approvals are obtained.
- Negotiate with authorities to ensure compliance.
Administration & Cost Control 40%
- Ensure all that accounting procedures and costs controls are established to cover all stages of the project.
- Liaise with Clients Cost Planner (if engaged) as required to monitor project costs.
- Identify risks, analyse and respond to any issue that may arise in relation to meeting budget.
- Throughout all phases, work to forecasts and budgets; monitor, analyse and forecast cash flows, action and settle accounts and rigorously enforce cost management procedures.
- Establish procedures regarding the issue of variations and their costing feedback into the overall cost budget position and produce cost to completion information.
- Develop the Delivery Strategy into the Invitation to Tender and manage through tender process to a recommendation to the Project Lead as to the preferred contractor.
- Administer the agreement between the contractor and Client.
- After client approval is reached, finalise all contracts.
- Administer the Contractor’s contract.

- Demonstrated behaviour that is aligned with Deloitte values.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. project management and construction)
- Proven industry experience in the Construction industry required, preferably working as a project manager.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the project delivery process including an understanding of project management controls.
- Strong understanding of the project management processes, including project design, authority liaison, town planning, project costs, project construction and delivery, and the contractual knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience of preparation and management of program.
- Advanced computer skills (particularly Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word and Project)
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Confident of own opinion and prepared to back their own judgment, being prepared to demonstrate their position in an appropriate forum.
- Open to constructive feedback.
- Experience in dealing with strong characters with a sense of purpose.
