ABOUT THE ROLE
This permanent position will be located in either our Perth, Vancouver or Santiago offices. We understand and value the benefits of flexibility and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).

As Manager Generative, you will help shape the future of global exploration by providing expert geological guidance and support across South32's worldwide portfolio. You'll collaborate with teams to evaluate exciting opportunities, enhance our geoscience practices, and help drive our exploration strategy forward. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working with diverse projects and talented professionals around the globe.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Exploration – Technical, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Support the exploration strategy and discovery by identifying promising base metal opportunities, while collaborating with global teams to ensure technical excellence
• Foster geoscience innovation and mentorship by guiding project teams, coaching fellow geoscientists, and staying current with industry trends and technological advances to enhance discovery success
• Partner with exploration and corporate teams to develop and manage high-quality work programs while building and maintaining valuable relationships with consultants and business partners
• Advance geoscience capabilities through the development of comprehensive datasets and implementation of cutting-edge research, ensuring our exploration activities remain at the forefront of industry best practices
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
• A deep understanding of base metal geological processes to help shape the future of mineral exploration across diverse and exciting terrains.
• Passion for geoscience and unravelling complex geological opportunities through expert core logging, mapping, and innovative data interpretation; your insights will open doors to promising new exploration frontiers.
• Demonstrate your cutting-edge approach by applying your advanced skills in geological modelling and GIS technology expertise including experience or exposure to resource estimation, which will help guide our path to discovery and development.
• Collaborate with diverse teams worldwide, sharing your experience to inspire others while fostering a culture of safety and excellence in exploration.
• Channel your extensive experience into strategic thinking that balances scientific rigour with commercial insight, helping us navigate new opportunities and drive our exploration and development vision forward.
• Share your gift for communication by bringing geological discoveries to life for various audiences, creating bridges between scientific findings and strategic business decisions.
Qualifications for this position are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent, post graduate degree advantageous.
• Expertise, particularly in base metals systems (porphyry, VMS, SEDEX, IOCG, and skarn)
