Harry Maxwell has been engaged to conduct an executive search for a dynamic and results-driven executive level General Manager to lead a team covering Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Workers Compensation and Training.
The General Manager - HSEQT holds principal accountability to the Managing Director – Surface Mining Australia for provision of HSEQT services to the Division. The role provides direction and leadership towards the achievement of strategic HSEQ initiatives and the establishment and monitoring of compliance to HSEQ management systems.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating modern leadership of HSEQT functions at senior and executive levels with elite influencing and engaging skills. They will have experience across gold, lithium and coal (desirable), they will have networks and connections within the regulators, and they will be an expert in behavioural based safety, and they will possess strong strategic capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement and ensure compliance with, HSEQ systems, practices, behaviours and the development of a proactive safety culture that will allow the desired HSEQ performance across the organisation.
- Champion visible leadership and model and reinforce uncompromising HSEQ standards and behaviours
- Ensure the appropriate and effective establishment and delivery of training programs to build individual and organisational capability, aligned with Division objectives; includes new-to-industry (apprentices, trainees)
- Establish and/or maintain emergency and crisis management system. Lead emergency and crisis response when required.
- Oversee the establishment, implementation and monitoring of quality management system across the Division.
- Ensure HSEQ reporting requirements are met on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Ensure that all incidents are recorded, investigated, monitored and actions closed out as required. Ensure analysis of incident trends is undertaken and mitigation strategies and initiatives are identified and implemented.
- Ensure HSEQ related submissions for tenders and expressions of interest are prepared and submitted as required.
Key Requirements
- Relevant tertiary degree qualification – (HSE)
- Strong technical knowledge - 10 yr + HSEQ management experience within mining industry.
- Highly developed communication and collaborative skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and is an authentic, balanced leader, provides clear vision and purpose, builds high performing teams, inspires and motivates, drives engagement.
- Builds strong stakeholder relationships - demonstrated ability to work effectively with an executive management team as an advisor and leader.
- Financial and commercial acumen – effective operational and capital budgeting skills.
- Full rights to work and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Current drivers license and ability to provide a clear National Police Clearance.
