About the role
The Superintendent Mining role offers an exceptional opportunity to be responsible and accountable for all activities conducted in the Production and Development Departments to ensure the safest and most efficient use of resources, for monitoring processes to attain maximum efficiency, for ensuring crew health and safety, for cost-effectiveness, and for achieving overall environmental and corporate objectives of the operation at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation.
The position will be on an 8 days on/ 6 days off days off roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Provide strategic and active direction for underground operations
- Prepare and control Mine department’s annual goals and objectives
- Prepare annual budget and ensure targets are achieved
- Provide strategic direction and leadership in the development and enhancement of Mine policies and procedures
- Provide operations and technical guidance in the development of best techniques, best practices, and the introduction of best equipment to improve the performance of the underground
- Provide technical and operating support to various projects
- Provide strategy and direction for the development of short and long-term plans for the safe, cost-effective and efficient removal of ore reserves at the budgeted rate
- Ensure the underground meets targets on safety, dilution, grade control, development and production
- Ensure production plans, ventilation, ground and geological controls are in place to allow for proper stope sequencing
- Manage contractors and ensure objectives of the mining agreement are being fulfilled
- Assess the performance of the underground operation through reports, control procedures, and site inspections, and make the necessary adjustments
- Interact with other departments, mining contractors, consultants, MOL and MASHA officials
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
- Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures
About you
As the Superintendent Mining, preferably you hold a Bachelor of Mine Engineering or relevant post-secondary education with a combination of work experience.
It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Demonstrated progressive experience in Underground Hard Rock Mining and a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience is preferred
- Ontario Supervisory Common Core
- Technical Services experience is considered an asset
- Solid understanding of financial budgets
- Works well under pressure and capable of adhering to and achieving deadlines
- Well developed ability to comprehend and interpret technical language
- Excellent interpersonal skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities
- Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products
- Displays initiative and is a self-starter; Possessing a strong work ethic
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Effectively capable of managing performance of others, coaching and motivating others, and developing others
- Competent conflict management and resolution skills
- Remains focused during challenging circumstances
- Maintains emotional control under stress and applies tact in difficult situations
