About the role
The Social Responsibility Advisor role offers an opportunity within our Red Lake Operations (RLO), to be accountable for all activities conducted in the Geology Department to ensure the most efficient use of headcount and materials, for monitoring processes to attain maximum efficiency, for ensuring the safety and cost effectiveness, and for achieving overall environmental and corporate objectives of the operation at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation.
The position will be on an 5/2/4/3 (9.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Prepare annual goals and objectives, operating capital and headcount budgets for the production
- Supervise and gives general direction to the Superintendents to ensure the drill and grade control programs are optimized and on budget
- Responsible for establishing exploration targets, setting drill priorities to ensure delineation drilling programs secure ongoing supply of mineable ore reserves
- Responsible for negotiating diamond drilling contracts monitors and ensures drilling performance is acceptable and that all contractual obligations are being met
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
- Manages and gives direction to external geological consultants to ensure work being performed is consistent with contract
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term strategic business planning
- Supervise and gives general direction to the Senior Resource Geologist to ensure timely and accurate resource reporting and modelling
- Initiate training programs as required to upgrade employee skills and manage the department talent to ensure there is a succession plan
- Responsible for monitoring and conducting performance evaluations on Direct Reports
- Other projects, responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the VP – Red Lake Operations
About you
As the Manager Geology, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, or relevant field and Professional Geoscientist Designation.
It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Demonstrated progressive experience in Geology
- Demonstrated progressive experience as a Supervisor
- Expertise in field of underground mining geology
- Well-developed ability to comprehend and interpret technical language
- Proficiency using geological software, database, Mining software and CAD programs
- Solid understanding on resource estimation process
- Solid understanding of budgets
- Excellent and competent interpersonal and conflict management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; good computer competency (MS Office)
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities with the capability of working under pressure and adhering to deadlines
- Self-starter, displays initiative, and has a strong work ethic
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving capabilities
- Effectively capable of managing performance of others, good motivator and coach
