Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Construction Project Management to lead their construction and engineering teams on major renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role oversees the complete construction lifecycle—from planning through execution and commissioning—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This leadership position requires effective management of both internal and external stakeholders, including EPC contractors, and ensuring seamless transitions from development through to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee project delivery for large-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects, ensuring timely, safe, and budget-compliant completion.
- Lead the construction management process, including pre-construction planning, engineering coordination, scheduling, and execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth handover from project development into construction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring project success and compliance.
- Develop strategies to optimise project execution processes and improve efficiency across all construction phases.
- Implement project controls, including cost management, risk assessment, and reporting, to ensure clear communication on progress and issues.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth project transitions into the operational portfolio.
- Mentor and lead the construction and engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.
- Drive strategic initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency, aligning team goals with company objectives.
- Manage department budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation to meet financial targets.
- Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy project management, with a focus on wind, solar, and BESS projects.
- Proven track record in managing complex construction projects from pre-construction through completion.
- Strong knowledge of EPC contracts, construction methodologies, and project controls.
- Demonstrated success in leading strategic initiatives and identifying efficiency improvements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, multidisciplinary teams.
