About the role:
We have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Client-Side Project Manager for a major rail intermodal project based in Melbourne. Reporting to the Project Director, you will contribute to the development of the broader Beveridge project whilst leading on-site activities, from planning through to completion with a strong focus on environmental stewardship and heritage preservation. This role involves collaborating extensively with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives while safeguarding natural and cultural resources.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the primary client contact on-site, overseeing all construction and logistical activities.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams and managing major infrastructure projects.
- Developing and implementing project plans, including schedules, budgets, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Engaging with contractors, government agencies, and local communities to foster collaboration and address stakeholder interests.
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental plans.
- Reporting on project progress, budget status, and ensuring adherence to close-out procedures.
- Managing contract performance, scope changes, and negotiating commercial terms.
- Promoting a supportive team culture and mentoring junior team members for professional growth.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and governance, maintaining high ethical standards.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, or related discipline with proven experience in major infrastructure project delivery in rail or transport related sectors.
- Proven expertise in site management, contract administration and management of tier one/two contractors.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of motivating and managing project teams effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental and heritage compliance, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong interface management and influencing skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in complex project environments.
- Ability to manage project performance, risks, and financials effectively.
- Commitment to sustainability and cultural respect in project management practices.
