Introduction to the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Development Manager to join Eku's rapidly growing business and support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. Eku develops, constructs, operates, trades and maintains a rapidly growing portfolio utility scale storage assets globally.
The Development Manager is a key addition to the Eku's APAC business. Eku Energy has grown rapidly in the past 18 months, we are looking for an experienced development manager to join the development team to lead the development of our secured portfolio of projects in Australia.
In this role, you will work closely with the engineering, commercial, markets and investment teams across all stages of development, but with a particular focus on mid to late stage development. You will report to Head of Development, Australia.
Responsibilities Of The Role
- Lead the end-to-end development process for utility scale BESS projects with a focus on mid-stage and later stage commercialisation phase of projects
- Manage project teams of multidisciplinary internal and external experts, including planning, legal, grid, environmental and engineering advisors
- Lead the environmental planning and approval processes including obtaining approvals and working with the business to satisfy planning conditions for the projects
- Working with specialist teams to select advisors, consultants, OEMs and construction contractors and supporting contract negotiations where required as projects progress towards financial close
- Responsible for developing and implementing the development plan, including setting budgets, identifying key project risks and implementing a develop plan to schedule
- Where required, visiting project sites to manage project risks
- Landowner and community engagement where required
- Reporting of overall project status and project progress to senior management and escalation of any key issues
Requirements
You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy project development (directly on in an advisory capacity) ideally with experience managing the end-to-end development process for renewable projects including taking projects through to a final investment decision and financial close. You'll have a good understanding of technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy projects and be comfortable jumping in and out of the detail and across workstreams to get a project over the line. You will understand how to craft a business case for an energy project and communicate new opportunities to senior executives.
You will have an excellent academic record with tertiary qualifications in a related field (e.g. engineering, law, finance, environmental science or project management). You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels and stakeholders. You will need to be ambitious, motivated and have the drive to succeed.
