Hays Construction and Engineering North Queensland are proud to partner with an established government-owned corporation based in Cairns. Responsible for the development and management of numerous regional trading centres, our client has demonstrated their commitment to fostering sustainable business practices and contributed to strong regional economic growth. They are currently seeking a motivated and well-versed Project Coordinator to join a project contract position during an exciting expansion period.
Your new role
Joining a highly motivated and enthusiastic projects team, you will become a key player in shaping the upcoming development across the north Queensland region. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery team, ensuring seamless coordination, planning, communication, and administration of delivery activities.
- Maintain and update program schedules, milestones, and deadlines, tracking progress and identifying potential delays or issues.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, reports, drawings, and correspondence, ensuring accurate and timely filing and retrieval.
- Monitor program budgets and expenditures, assisting in financial tracking, invoice processing, and cost control.
- General administration duties, quality assurance and escalating risks, issues to delivery manager.
Frequent travel to Brisbane will be required for this position.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed as Project Coordinator you will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Degree in Project Management, Business administration, engineering or related field.
- Experience in a similar role supporting large scale construction projects, assisting project managers and coordinating multidisciplinary teams or across related industries, ie. Infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of project management principles, methodologies, best practices and software.
- Strong time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
