We are hiring for a Program Management Officer for one of our Federal Clients.
Role: Program Management Officer (PMO)
Location of work: Canberra
Contract duration: 6 months + 6 months extension.
Security clearance: Australian Citizen with Baseline Security clearance
Overview:
The Program Management Officer role supports the management of the Client’s Change Program which uses Agile methodologies in a complex and dynamic environment. The role is accountable for a range of typical program activities and outcomes that help drive the integration of agile methodologies in standard project management processes and practices in a public sector operating environment. The role works closely with the Assistant Program Manager and Program Manager, Transformation Office to manage the planning and delivery of the Program within an agreed framework. This may include scoping, planning, scheduling, budgeting and managing the IT delivery components of the program end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively and flexibly in a fast-paced, hybrid team of APS staff and contractors.
• Continuously monitor program progress, manage schedule data, and update schedules as needed.
• Ensure the program schedule aligns with program scope, objectives, and prioritisation and scope decisions.
• Analyse critical paths and identify and communicate potential risks, delays, and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with project staff to develop contingency plans or other materials for potential delays and/or executive decisions.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including internal staff and contractors.
• Ensure program documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
• Prepare reporting and briefing materials for senior officers and agency committees and ensure they meet quality standards and comply with relevant policies and procedures.
• Provide regular updates on program schedule status, highlighting any deviations from original plans.

• Demonstrated experience in program management and adapting to changes in program priorities and scope.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and think analytically along with organisational, program and time management skills.
• Scheduling, data analysis and reporting skills and experience in a government program management operating environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to manage program risks, issues, and dependencies, and to develop strategies and contingency plans to mitigate them.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and learning, and the ability to promote a positive culture of innovation and agility within teams.
• Ability to acquire understanding of relevant policies and procedures, and to ensure Change Program deliverables meet quality standards and requirements.
