Role Summary:The ECCPB Project Director (PD) will oversee the successful delivery and integration of up to 11 ECCPBs and their associated support infrastructure for the Australian Border Force. This critical role will require strategic leadership to transition the fleet seamlessly, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and develop robust support frameworks aligned with Defence protocols. As the PD, you will drive project excellence while embedding a strong culture aligned with ABF's values.

Key Responsibilities:1. Establish & Lead a High-Performance Project Team:
📋 Create and manage a cohesive project team dedicated to achieving key milestones, including:
- Initial Vessel Acceptance: Coordinate the receipt of two ECCPBs from the Department of Defence, ensuring all compliance requirements are met.
- Future Capability Realisation: Lead activities that will inform Government decisions on investments for subsequent ECCPB deliveries.
- Integrated Defence Partnerships: Collaborate with Defence to establish robust support and sustainment arrangements.
2. Drive Capability Realisation & Investment Planning:
💡 Lead the planning and execution of capability activities, ensuring alignment with government investment strategies.
- Develop comprehensive roadmaps to support the fleet uplift and integrate cutting-edge support solutions.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis to guide strategic investment decisions.
3. Develop & Execute Acquisition and Sustainment Strategies:
🛡 Manage the delivery of ECCPB assets and ensure that sustainment agreements with Defence are well-structured and effective.
- Negotiate and execute acquisition agreements that secure the best outcomes for ABF.
- Develop a new Integrated Support Services (ISS) provider model tailored to ABF's operational requirements.
- Oversee the interface with ABF’s Civil Maritime Sustainment Branch using proven Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) principles.
4. Lead Multi-Disciplinary Teams & Resource Management:
👥 Build and manage a diverse team of Australian Public Service (APS) staff and external contractors, ensuring collaborative and efficient operations.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering professional growth and a results-driven culture.
- Allocate resources strategically to maximize impact and efficiency across project phases.
5. Governance & Progress Reporting:
📊 Provide regular updates on project progress, fleet transition status, and key outcomes to senior executives and relevant governance boards.
- Develop and maintain detailed project dashboards and progress reports.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, ensuring project timelines and objectives are met.
6. Develop Strategic Vessel Delivery & Divestment Plans:
📝 Create and implement a strategy for delivering new vessels while planning for the divestment of legacy assets.
- Ensure that all delivery plans are aligned with ABF’s capability roadmap and broader strategic goals.
- Liaise with stakeholders to coordinate seamless vessel handovers and prepare divestment schedules.
7. Promote ABF Culture & Values:

Role Requirements:1. Extensive Project Management Experience:
✔️ Demonstrated track record of leading large, complex projects, preferably in a government or defence setting.
- Proven ability to deliver multi-phase projects on time and within budget.
- Experience in developing and managing acquisition and sustainment agreements.
2. Deep Understanding of Maritime & Defence Operations:
⚓ Familiarity with Defence acquisition frameworks and maritime support systems is essential.
- Strong knowledge of ILS principles and how they apply to maritime sustainment.
- Experience in managing vessel delivery and fleet transition projects.
3. Leadership & Team Management Skills:
