This is an exciting opportunity for a legal administrator to take on a rewarding role in Youth Legal Aid. The unit plays an important role in our youth justice system. You will have a key role in setting up the new process for data collection on bail merit assessments. You will also assist lawyers prepare bail applications, bail reviews and legal cases for young people and maintain required information, data and statistics to support the monitor remand reduction strategies in the youth justice system.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:
- Acting as the principal point of contact for all stakeholders regarding remand reduction, review and training and certifications.
- Managing and coordinate the process to record and present information, data and statistics with respect to youth justice matters, particularly bail proceedings. Provide recommendations on improving the collection and presentation of data.
- Analysing, interpreting and collating information from files for the purpose of government reporting as outlined in the project's Memorandum of Understanding. Providing ongoing advice and data analysis to the Director and Principal Lawyers, Criminal Law Services in relation to all aspects of the project.
- Responding to internal and external stakeholders requests for regular and ad hoc reports relating to Youth Remand issues. Preparing regular and report for external stakeholders.
- Assisting lawyers in managing youth justice cases, particularly bail applications and bail reviews, for young people including taking instructions, corresponding with clients and others, preparing documents for court.
