What you'll do
This position is responsible for identifying and assessing training needs, crafting and implementing training plans, scheduling and coordinating training at customer locations, and maintaining training materials and curriculum. Overall responsibility to ensure training and training support is provided by Viasat to ensure staff can competently operate, maintain and sustain the system capability.
This position is also responsible for Quality, Health and Safety and the Environment at the critical client satellite ground station. Viasat and the government customer place a phenomenal emphasis on the Health and Safety of our people and the environment and expect all work to be completed in accordance with current Quality standards.
This position will be required in the Viasat Australia office location in Canberra.
The day-to-day
Some key responsibilities of the Training Officer are:
- Maintaining and updating all training packages in accordance with CCB changes, reference documentation revisions/corrections, and survey feedback provided by support staff and students.
- Managing version control, change, verification, validation and publishing of updated training documents.
- Responsible for the development and update of all training support SOPs and plans.
- Reporting performance assessments in Contract Status Reports (CSRs).
- Providing engineering and technical input to training packages and participating in the review and approval of updated training packages.
- Providing subject matter expert advice and guidance to the Program Manager for all aspects of Quality, Health and Safety and the Environment in relation to the client ground station.
- Undertaking a comprehensive Quality, Health and Safety and the Environment audit program for the Program.
- Incident notification, investigation, reporting and tracking of corrective actions to their closure.
- Training of the Program team in Quality, Health and Safety and the Environment matters.
- Develop, deploy, and supervise Quality, Health and Safety and the Environment programs, procedures, policies, and standards in a manner that ensures compliance to Federal, State, and Local legislation
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Training or Work Health and Safety, environmental management, or related field.
- Knowledge of managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
- Knowledge of managing an ISO 9001 system.
- Experience in Quality, Health and Safety and Environment management.
- Experience in the scheduling and delivery of internal and customer-facing training classes.
- Knowledge of applicable software, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio and Adobe Acrobat.
- Must be an Australian citizen with an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1) or have previously held one.
