The Opportunity
Our business continues to grow, opening an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Manager of Projects to join our dynamic team. This position is suited to someone looking to be a valued member of our senior leadership team, in a company that values and appreciates your contribution and collaboration. You will be able to make this role your own, broaden your experience, be innovative and work with a dedicated team of professionals, located across multiple locations. This is a full-time position based in our Brisbane CBD office, providing consistent, sustainable and effective management direction for all projects within the Brisbane office project portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Effective leadership, mentorship and governance of our team of Project Managers, Project Engineers and Project Services personnel, to deliver a broad portfolio of brownfield and greenfield projects, managing resources, budgets, schedules and quality of outputs
- Coordinate with engineering discipline leads, ensuring engineering and design resource plans meet project requirements, quality effectiveness and support innovative technical solutions
- Manage and monitor project portfolio performance, identifying opportunities and issues early and taking pre-emptive action
- Ensuring the continuity of Contracts through the provision of value-add services that are in alignment with the customer’s changing business requirements
- Regular status reporting of projects in relation to project milestones and deliverables, traffic light and health status reports, and other standardised stakeholder reporting and audit requirements
- Prepare, monitor and control budget and forecasts, obtain approvals, identify trends, acting as necessary
- Prepare tender documents and manage tender negotiations
- Provide quality assurance for project documentation and maintain up-to-date risk registers
- Ensure best practice, continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learnt are commonly shared amongst project engineers/project managers
- Provide input into the long-term business strategy in line with company objectives and play an integral role in identifying, pursuing and securing future project opportunities
- Proactively engage and continue to strengthen respectful relationships within our team, and our valued stakeholders
The Ideal Candidate
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
- Extensive experience (15+ years) in leading successful, cohesive, innovative project teams across multiple projects and stakeholders, within the mining / minerals processing / construction / heavy industry sectors
- Proactive attitude towards safety and the wellbeing of our people, leading by example, creating a culture of safety, quality, and environmental awareness
- A deep understanding of industry applicable legislation and regulations
- Self-motivated and decisive, able to adapt to change and competing demands
- Strong commercial background, understanding and management of contracts and business development capability
