THE ROLE
The Director, Operations is responsible for leading the provision of high-level advice and support to the Chief Development Officer on a broad range of issues and projects including programs of significant scale and state importance such as the High-rise Redevelopment Program. The role undertakes executive level project work and is pivotal in prioritising and progressing urgent matters on behalf of the Chief Development Officer.
The Director, Operations works within a complex environment characterised by competing priorities, and often deals with matters requiring innovative strategies in resolving various and wide-ranging issues. Due to its cross-branch function, the role liaises, consults, and negotiates at a senior level on a range of executive and policy issues and identifies and alerts the Chief Development Officer to significant and/or sensitive issues as they emerge.
This role must stay close to our deliverables, work with the Directors in the Housing Development branch and remain responsible for the Office of the Chief Development Officer. The incumbent will also have the ability to work in a fast paced and varied role, requiring significant government business acumen.
Accountabilities Include
- Act as an authoritative source of high quality, innovative and strategic advice to the Chief Development Officer and senior executives across the department to strongly influence policy and strategic direction, contributing to organisation wide goals.
- Exercise initiative and independence on dealing with priority issues, with freedom to make critical decisions on priorities and goals, to ensure the Housing Development branch is responsive to emerging issues.
- Provide timely briefing to the Chief Development Officer across all issues and deliverables for the branch.
