About The Role
Due to continuing strong growth, we have a great opportunity for Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our Victoria team.
As a key member of our HSEQ team, you will be responsible for
- Support the project team and workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Educate site workers on hazard identification, by promoting the See Say Do process, which is targeted at early hazard identification to reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring.
- Carry out and deliver project consultation processes including; site inductions, pre-start / toolbox meetings are effectively carried out, safety committee (where required) are established and effective.
- Recommend corrective/preventive actions to prevent hazards from escalating into incidents that may result in a work related injury or illness.
- Thoroughly investigate all incidents and recommend corrective / preventive actions to be taken to prevent reoccurrence and ensure implementation agreed actions.
- Support the Project Manager by identifying any additional WHSE training, to be carried out on the project.
- Circulate and disseminate WHSE information across the project as required.
- Assist the project team in building a strong safety culture to achieve or better the key project performance indicators as required by the project.
- In consultation with project management, subcontractors and workers, assist with the preparation, development and review of construction methodology and SWMS.
- Carry out formal weekly HSE inspections and daily ‘work in-progress’ inspections as required by the management system, to ensure regulatory workplace WHSE monitoring and compliance is met.
- In consultation with subcontractors, arrange audits / inspections of work areas and activities.
- Review on-site work practices, materials conditions, plant and equipment and identify WHSE hazards.
- Support the company Return to Work Coordinator (including subcontractor) by ensuring that Return to Work Plans are in place and effectively managed for injured workers.
- Review any permits to work issued and ensure compliance with legal, organizational and WHSE requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum of 2 years’ operational experience in a HSE Advisor role or similar.
- Working knowledge of WH&S Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and their application in the construction industry.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills on a technical level.
- Display effective organisational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritise key activities.
- Have a strong commitment to ‘Home Without Harm.’
