Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony recently acquired 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
As Project Engineer you will assist in the safe and timely completion of engineering projects by organising, controlling, and coordinating project elements from conceptualisation until completion.
This role will spend 50% of time in Brisbane and 50% onsite at Hidden Valley Mine in Papua New Guinea working on a 9/5 PNG, 5/2 BNE, 5/2 BNE roster.
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Frontline management of the safe and timely execution of approved capital projects to achieve planned project benefits.
- Develop scope of work packages for allocated capital projects.
- Prepare submissions and cost estimates for capital projects.
- Ensure Change Management System is used for required projects with communication, input, and sign-off by all key stakeholders.
- Ensure that projects comply with industry codes, practices are adhered to, quality assurance policies are followed, and performance standards are met.
- Deliver timely, accurate, and appropriate project reporting.
- Ensure all changes resulting from projects are updated in relevant systems, including drawings, Pronto, and document management system.
- Ability to manage and coordinate site works with installation contractors, equipment suppliers/manufacturers, logistics and site personnel to timely deliver projects.
- Assist with other projects as requested.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you should be a self-motivated professional holding the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical.
- Minimum 5 years' experience project engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience developing engineering and construction scopes including installation contractor management.
- Strong area/package management experience.
- Knowledge across multi-discipline site works including construction, commissioning and operational readiness
- Knowledge of Australian and PNG standards.
