About the role
The role of Senior Engineer/Hydrologist supports the adoption and use of eWater tools, including Source as the National Hydrological Modelling Platform, MUSIC and Urban Developer.
The position has four primary roles, which are:
- Provide training and technical support for eWater’s tools;
- Conceptualisation and hydrological analysis for selected software development activities and projects;
- Assisting with the specification of product functionality and its implementation, including testing and software documentation;
- Supporting delivery of eWater projects.
Duties include:
- Providing professional support for the users of eWater’s tools.
- Designing, developing, and delivering training courses and capacity-building programs in eWater’s tools.
- Interpreting software user and client needs and translating them into functional design specifications for the software team to implement.
- Contribution of hydrology expertise to proposal development and project delivery.
- Contributing to project reports by writing approach, concept and intepretation of results and analysis.
- Support Community of Practice initiatives, such as representing eWater at conferences and forums.
- Contribute to applications for, and implementation of, research projects as required.
- Contributing to the overall success of eWater.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent, such as engineering, hydrology/water resources, environmental sciences and/or computer programming.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of water resources management within Australia and internationally.
Experience Required:
- Demonstrated experience, 5+ years, in using computer models and related applications to analyse real world problems, experience in eWater Source and/or MUSIC will be highly regarded.
- Preparing and presenting project reports.
Skills:
- Hydrological or water system modelling.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Skill in creating and designing graphics, charts, tables, and maps will be highly valued.
- Ability to apply judgement in complex environments and negotiations.
- Ability to use GIS will be well regarded.
- Experience with or understanding of computer programming is desirable and will be highly regarded.

- Experience working in developing countries or working in cross-cultural situations.
