Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Substation Design Manager in a permanent role for our client, a well-established and growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. This position will ideally be based in Adelaide, though our client is open to candidates located in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, or Hobart.
This role will join the project team on a multi-billion-dollar Transmission & Distribution project in Australia, focused on the design and development of four major substations, both new and upgraded. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in substation design management for high-voltage systems, a proven track record in leading large-scale infrastructure projects, and the ability to manage both client relationships and internal teams. This is a permanent position with a strong pipeline of future projects.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and engineering of high-voltage substations, ensuring all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Act as the main liaison with the client, managing expectations and ensuring alignment on substation design requirements and project deliverables.
- Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, setting clear objectives and fostering a collaborative work environment to achieve project milestones.
- Develop and review design drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for substation components and overall layouts.
- Provide expert oversight on substation design aspects.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and design team members, fostering skill development and promoting best practices.
Required Experience:
- Experience in high-voltage substation design, with a focus on managing the design process for large-scale infrastructure or power transmission projects.
- Proven expertise in industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to substation design.
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships and aligning technical deliverables with project timelines and quality standards.
- Strong design management skills, with experience guiding diverse engineering teams to achieve complex project goals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to developing effective and compliant design solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
