Description
This position is a key leadership role within the Australian Engineering team.
This role is responsible for all engineering maintenance operations, budgets, people development, and strategic objectives within Australia, including Customer Fulfilment and Amazon Logistics. The Country Leader responsibilities include leading a team of Engineering Managers and Program Managers coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench across the country.
This role is accountable for operational goals covering overall safety, equipment reliability, maintenance performance, customer experience, and people development for the engineering teams across the assigned region. They are expected to drive the vision for the team and create cost-reduction programs, quality initiatives, process improvement projects, and other lean initiatives to enable the network to meet and exceed business objectives.
The Country Lead is required to hire and develop top talent who can deliver results safely across a multi-site operation. They will create and implement a talent management plan for the region, including talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, and employee engagement.
The Manager will present operational metrics and strategic plans regularly to the Australia leadership team, attending senior-level meetings and serving as the final point of accountability for equipment reliability and maintenance performance within their assigned region.

Key job responsibilities
• Contributes in building Strategic Goals of the organization and their accomplishment in the Country.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Amazon’s growth in the region/pillar.
• Responsible for the formulation, adherence and tracking of Facility Engineering capital expenditure (CAPEX) across the region. Deliver the required availability of all infrastructures in their region to meet customer demand whilst remaining within operational budget.
• Engage and work closely with the regions strategic leaders in Operations, Transportation, Finance and Supply Chain to ensure an integrated approach is adopted that underpins growth and which delivers customer service excellence.
• Drive a culture of innovation in the team which will lead to improvements in safety, customer experience and system performance.
Technical
• Responsible for all preventative and reactive maintenance for installed equipment in the region, ensuring maximum equipment availability. (Conveyors, Sorters, Labeling Machines, Packing Machine, HVAC, Fire detection, etc.)
• Responsible for the overall building and facility maintenance (Reliability, Performance, Cost, etc.).
• Drive and improve equipment and process standardization across the region and the wider EU network.
• Provide feedback and condition analysis on equipment, performance and availability.
• Manage day to day issues on equipment with the regional Engineering teams, defining priorities with the Operations teams and working with the local teams to resolve TTs promptly and with detailed root cause and remedy.
• Support the Ops Engineering teams with installation of new Equipment.
• Effective in influencing, negotiating and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
• Provide technical guidance to field personnel.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
• An ability to create clear, concise narratives with supporting financial justification for capital investment and then delivery of complex technical solutions

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering maintenance and operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-site engineering teams.
Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and leading teams responsible for the preventive and reactive maintenance of complex, automated industrial equipment and facilities, including HVAC, fire detection, conveyor systems, and packaging machinery.
Extensive experience in developing and implementing engineering maintenance strategies, budgets, and capital expenditure plans to ensure optimal equipment availability and reliability across a regional or multi-site operation.
Proficient in using data analysis tools to track, monitor, and optimize maintenance performance and costs.
Project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders from global and regional operations, finance, and supply chain to drive continuous improvements.
Proven ability to develop and mentor engineering teams, including setting clear goals, providing coaching and feedback, and establishing effective succession planning.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, as well as the ability to write strategic papers such as Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and 3-Year Plans (3YP).
Working knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and desirable familiarity with industry certifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
Ability to travel, mostly within Australia to oversee and support the engineering teams at multiple sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong operations experience in a fast-growing company/industry.
MBA or Masters in Engineering or related field.
Previous experience leading a rapid expansion plan.
Proven record of delivering multiple programs on time.
