About the job
We are seeking a Construction Technical Manager to lead technical evaluations and manage construction and asset performance.
Your responsibilities include ensuring project compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards, managing construction risks, contract negotiations, and supporting successful project delivery.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills are essential, along with expertise in water infrastructure and the ability to handle complex technical issues. Experience with project scheduling, construction methodology, and developing positive stakeholder relationships is crucial for success in this position.
About Sustainable Infrastructure
The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
You will:
- Contribute effectively to the team ensuring efforts are aligned toward achieving team goals.
- Put safety above all else, be aware of and apply roles and responsibilities in accordance with WHS Roles and Responsibilities Procedure.
- Ensure that allocated projects comply with necessary internal and external standards, acts and regulations, guidelines and design requirements are met.
- Ensure regular team/site meetings are conducted and documented.
- Develop construction team capacity and effectiveness.
- Prepare contract specifications, assessment of tenders and subsequent recommendations
Your success in this role will come from:
- To support this role it is required that you have a minimum of 5-7 years in a similar support role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or relevant equivalent experience is highly preferrable.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of construction and health, safety and environmental practices, standards and quality assurance methods.
- Technical understanding of water, wastewater and recycled water treatment, disinfection and distribution system facilities, assets and infrastructure throughout the design, operations and maintenance lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to develop sound interpersonal relationships with contractors, supplies, other authorities and Corporation staff.
- Ability to exercise judgement and experience to manage and resolve urgent matters during the construction and commissioning of major projects with the capacity to make decisions and communicate effectively, under limited supervision. -Desirable.
- Ability to manage work schedules and meet deadlines whilst working on various projects simultaneously. -Desirable.
- Experience in construction, commissioning and program reviews and quality assurance, cost and time estimates and scheduling for construction projects. -Desirable.
