Vestas have released a fantastic opportunity and are looking for an experienced Electrical Site Supervisor to join our PPS Commissioning and HV operations team.
This role will manage HV works at our Golden Plains wind farm near Rokewood on a rotating roster of 3 weeks on and 1 week off. Ideally the successful candidate will live in or near the local area.
Requirements
- High Voltage Operations and Energy control coordinator during HV commissioning of wind farm substation.
- Manageall High Voltage (HV) works for Wind Farm as HV Responsible Officer HVRO for coordinating the HV work of Electrical contractor and HV Authorized Persons.
- Produce switching programs, execute HV switching, isolation, earthing, identification of the point of work and issue of safety documentation duties on HV networks in accordance with Vestas HV Safety Rules.
- Facilitate a safe working environment during high voltage working.
- Participate in Safety in Design Reviews.
- Witnessing inspection and tests of electrical components and infrastructure. (incl. FATs)
- Reporting on progress of inspections / tests and QA/QC submissions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical queries are addressed.
- Liaise with and provide feedback to Melbourne based personnel. (Commissioning Manger)
- Monitor BOP progress and contribute to deriving solutions or mitigation measures should delays be incurred.
- Participate in and coordinate HAZCOM meetings during commissioning phase.
- Supervising the Electrical construction activities, pre-commissioning and HV Commissioning of Electrical Balance of Plant.
- Preparation of Switching Program and HV commissioning inspection test plans for initial energization.
- Reviewing of Inspection and Test Plan ITP and QA packs submitted by Subcontractors and reporting on site day to day progress on Electrical equipment installation, pre-commissioning and HV Commissioning.
- Participate in final Walkdown for punch listing.
- Maintain a good working relationship with onsite client and contractors.
- Ensuring compliance with scope requirements, making sure all assigned works are completed on time and within budgetary limitations.
- Attending site and progress meetings to assist with expert knowledge in these areas
- Bring standards compliance knowledge to the team
- Ensure all work carried out always follows Quality and Site Safety requirements.
- Inform Construction Manager and Site Electrical Engineer on work progress, potential issues etc. at all times.
- Identify any risks to executing plan or electrical construction schedule and advise Site Manager and Site Electrical Engineer.
- Resolving site co-ordination problems with contractors and agreeing solution
- Forecast, monitor and order tools, equipment, parts / components, and labor, as required. Ensure all are available when required.
- Coordinate and manage the subcontractors in remote site locations throughout the electrical works phase of the construction project (i.e. UG HV cabling, HV substation, WTG RMU buildings, communications networks, and reactive power support)

Competencies
- Ideally 15 years onsite experience
- Experience with substation construction highly valued• Experience with MV/HV cable reticulation and transmission construction highly valued
- Management of subcontractors in a site based, construction environment
- Experience in construction of Wind farms beneficial but not mandatory
- Experience in doing negotiation with major stakeholders, both clients / contractors

- Strong verbal and written communication / negotiation
- Relationship building, both internal and external
- Ability to ensure safe and controlled operations within high-pressure environment
- Advanced use of MS Office
- Extensive knowledge in construction and commissioning large scale plants
- Constructability review of electrical design in a construction environment
- A well-developed knowledge of industrial legislation, Australian standards, site specific standards and local Laws
- Proven ability to provide a mentoring role to improve team members skills
