Professional | Full-Time | Engineering An exciting opportunity is available for a Mechanical Engineer in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector in Australia, focusing on wind energy. The position resides within the Service Organization, providing support to both the Service and Construction departments. The successful candidate will offer technical support and serve as a liaison between VPS and local business units throughout the APAC region.Region APAC>Regional Operations Team APAC>Engineering Support APACResponsibilities - Technical support on all the general mechanical components and Drive train support including but not limited to gearboxes, oil analysis, bearings, mechanical endoscopes, and condition monitoring.
- Secure technical know-how within the group on hydraulic units (pitch system), oil analysis, main shaft arrangement, blade bearings, torque arms, transmission systems, rotating unit, yaw gears and yaw bearings, bolts & torques.- Technical documentation.
- Ability to translate technical issues into a business case and support SBU on continuous improvements.
- Act as one voice towards the global organization on Technical issues, and be a single point contact for R&D.
- Collaborate with various service units across ASP, understand the pain points, and create projects for the cost-out ideas.
- We are creating high-level technical reports i.e., root cause analysis, inspection & Serious incident reports if needed.
- Escalate and work with the technology team to approve the cost-out ideas for the implementation.
- Participate in various forums, drive and contribute to various cost-out ideas and Turbine availability drivers.
- Data collection, analysis and deriving projects for driving down cost and increasing the availability.
- Managing technical projects
Qualifications - Bachelor's / Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of technical experience.
- Wind turbine knowledge/experience preferred.- Project Management experience (as project participant or project manager) advantageous
- DMAIC experience is an advantage
Competencies - Proven expertise in the maintenance engineering of hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and bearings is a prerequisite.
- Candidates with a mechanical background specialising in gearboxes, coupled with professional experience in industrial maintenance and research and development (R&D) also specialising in drivetrain and hydraulics, will be highly regarded.
- A demonstrated understanding of gears, bearings, mechanical condition monitoring, endoscopy, and oil analysis is advantageous.
- Any additional experience with Blades and Towers is considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills, high technical proficiency, and excellent proficiency in English are essential.
- Innovative analytical and problem-solving capabilities are desired.
The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a challenging environment is crucial. - Outstanding Time/Project Management skills are expected.
