Specialist | Full-Time | Engineering Vestas is currently recruiting for a qualified engineer to support Vestas projects in the Sales phase. The role will be based in the Melbourne office with very occasional site visits.
The Civil Engineering team is a function within Vestas' Construction department located in the Asia Pacific region. The team is responsible for technical matters relating to the balance of plant works during the Sales phase and during Construction. This role advertised is focused on the Sales phase with minimal involvement during the Construction phase. The team is largely focused on EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) type contracts however there is also involvement with S&I (Supply and Install) type contracts.
Responsibilities: This role is focused on the Sales phase of projects, with responsibilities including:
- Technical clarifications and negotiations on related matters with Clients and Subcontractors.
- Coordination with various subject matter experts.
- Technical support to Sales and Procurement colleagues during contract negotiations.
- Awareness of project layouts and civil concept design, including developing/optimizing project layouts to improve constructability.
- Assist with scoping and management of consultants engaged for early works aspects that may consist of preliminary geotech investigations, design aspects, Traffic Management Plans, etc.
- Coordination of civil balance of plant RFQ packs for release to subcontractors.
- Evaluating civil subcontractor tender submissions and making recommendations to Vestas Construction.
- Provide technical support for our sales and sourcing departments including the preparation of technical schedules for inclusion in contracts.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on general engineering related queries.
- Ad hoc support to colleagues in project execution after contract award.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years experience
Competencies: - Experience in negotiation on technical matters with both clients and subcontractors
- Experience in the Construction industry and Renewables sector (desirable)
- Technical awareness of wind farm civil balance of plant works
- Suitable software skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Awareness of commercial contract items
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Previous experience with wind farms will be highly valued
- Management of consultants (designers, geotech, etc.)
- Able to evaluate tenders and make a recommendation
- Strong verbal and written communication/negotiation
- Relationship building, both internal and external
