Vestas Australia is looking to every growing and the Power Plant Solution department is looking to welcome their next Lead Engineer within their team.
The team manages all grid aspects during the sales/construction/Service phase of the projects in APAC.
As a lead Engineer you will be Working with a team of engineering professionals across the region working closely with other cross-functional teams delivering competitive and compliant grid solutions. The role will encompass technical and stakeholder management from presales all the way to service on multiple projects.

Responsibilities:
• Simulation and modelling of the wind Power Plant including WTG, PV and storage.
• Studying grid connection requirement and grid codes.
• Evaluating site specific grid connection solutions.
• Ensure grid connection deliverables required to be submitted by Vestas are provided in a timely, safe and high-quality manner.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure grid connection issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Engage and manage consultant when required.
• Research and prepare formal responses to inquiries regarding wind farm technical performance. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customer.
• Attend and provide input to various safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews.
• Review of Balance of Plant (BoP) design, drawing and document submissions from subcontractors against industry best practice, law, international and local standards, in addition to Vestas' contractual and interfacing requirements from the perspective of grid connection.
• Support power system studies to define the wind farm generator performance standards and to develop the wind farm control system functional design specification and reactive plant requirements. Coordinate activities with the grid modelling department.
• Documentation and Reporting- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and document all grid connection activities, milestones, and outcomes.
• Review grid connection documents.
• Also to manage all aspects of the grid connection process within the Sales, Construction and Service projects, working with TNSPs and grid operators.
Qualification :
• Electrical engineering (power systems knowledge) with minimum 5-8 years' experience.
• Degree in Electrical Engineer or similar
Competencies :
• Have a strong background in undertaking grid connection studies using PSCAD, PSSE and/or Powerfactory and be able to interpret, comprehend and communicate the simulation study performance and apply this to demonstrate compliance with the relevant performance standards and as applicable to the real-world performance.
• Must have extensive experience with PSCAD, PSSe and/or Powerfactory.
• Experience in the electricity generation sector.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve problems.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Experience in working together with international stakeholders.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines in the Australian energy industry.
• Experience in grid connection management for renewable energy projects, preferably in Australia.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
