Job Opportunity: Fitter Machinist – UGL Manufacturing & Maintenance, Broadmeadow, Newcastle NSW UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance division in Broadmeadow, Newcastle, is seeking skilled Fitter Machinists to join our rail component overhaul team. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis under UGL’s Newcastle Operations Enterprise Agreement, with a 9-day fortnight schedule, providing every second Friday off. Regular hours are Monday-Thursday 5:30 am – 2:30 pm, and 5:30 am – 1:30 pm on working Fridays. Role Overview As a Fitter Machinist, you’ll work in our rail component overhaul line, focusing on component overhaul tasks along with general workshop duties. Key Responsibilities - Machining Duties: Machining commutator armatures, operating balance and horizontal boring machines, crane operations, and general machining tasks. - Quality Control: Inspecting and interpreting drawings/specifications, determining manufacturing methods, and ensuring standards are met. - Safety and Teamwork: Commitment to safety practices, teamwork, and collaboration. About You - Qualifications: Relevant trade qualification as a Fitter/Machinist. - Experience: Proven experience in metal machining and fabrication. Experience in rail, electric motor, or mining industries is advantageous but not required. - Skills: High attention to detail, solid understanding of measuring instruments, strong communication skills, and ability to troubleshoot and repair tools.
