Due to continued growth, UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance business is seeking skilled Vehicle Builders to join our Locomotive New Build team in Broadmeadow, Newcastle. This is a full-time permanent opportunity on a 9-day fortnight schedule, offering day shifts from Monday to Thursday (5:30am – 2:30pm), with every second Friday off, and working 5:30am – 1:30pm on the Fridays you do work. The Role: In this role, you’ll report directly to the Service Delivery Manager, contributing to locomotive new builds by performing detailed internal and external fit-outs on Locomotives, and handling general workshop duties. Responsibilities include: - Cutting and installing flooring - Installing air ducting and acoustic insulation - Fitting roof and wall linings - Handling internal and external GRP panels - Installing windows and assembling doors - Sealing and backfilling with Sikaflex products About You: We’re looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes: - Australian trade certificate with a Certificate of Proficiency in Carpentry Joinery, Shop Fitting, Shipwright, or Vehicle Building - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Reliable and punctual with a commitment to safety - General rail or locomotive experience (desirable but not essential) - Ability to interpret schematics and production drawings - Capable of working autonomously and in a team - Customer-focused with a drive for quality work Why UGL?
