About the opportunity and the role:
Acciona Construction is currently delivering the Majors Road Interchange project, which is a key piece of infrastructure to allow commuters further access to the Southern Expressway and local amenities.
We are currently looking to bolster our Safety team with the addition of a Health and Safety Advisor on an initial short term contract. This contract has a high potential to be extended and possibly become a full-time role in 2025 as we have multiple projects in the pipeline with the SA region.
Reporting into the Project Safety Manager you will be responsible for:
- Be on-site to build rapport with the construction team and report/investigate health and safety hazards, incidents and injuries, including support for case and care management.
- Identify, review, and analyse high-risk activities and implement mitigations.
- Onboard sub-contractors including people, plant and equipment to ensure they meet our safety standards
- Actively ensure that subcontractors and suppliers are complying with legislative, client and the work health and safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems.
- Assess high-risk activities in conjunction with the appropriate personnel and recommend the best approach to take.
- Have a consistent presence at pre-start meetings, including leading and developing material
- Working with and utilizing 3D Safety to accurately report as required
Skills & Capabilities:
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in construction
- Demonstrated extensive experience in safety and compliance
