Who We Are
The City of Salisbury is a local government entity and encompasses an area of 158km2. We are a customer focused organisation, providing essential services to residents and visitors, in a dynamic and flexible working environment.
The City Infrastructure Department manages and maintains all civil, built, biodiversity corridors and environmental and natural assets across the City, totalling approximately $2.2 billion. The team is responsible for asset management, a capital works program, and maintenance in line with adopted levels of service. The team also manages leases for local community and sporting clubs, as well as security and civil compliance matters.
The Role
In this role you will undertake traffic investigations, and support the development of capital, renewal, and maintenance programs for civil, transport, stormwater projects, and assist in maintaining Asset Management Plans. Collaborating with various Council departments investigate local area traffic and road safety issues and contribute to the design and auditing of traffic control devices. Gain valuable experience liaising with government bodies, preparing project briefs, and coordinating temporary road closures for community events.
Key Responsibilities (but Not Limited To)
- Investigate Traffic and Road Safety Issues – Conduct investigations into local area traffic and road safety, recommending solutions to improve safety and efficiency on the road network.
- Contribute to Capital and Maintenance Programs – Play a hands-on role in developing capital, renewal, and maintenance programs for civil, transport, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Collaborate Across Government and External Partners – Liaise with local, state, and federal government bodies, as well as public utilities and developers, to manage traffic and road safety matters.
- Write Project Briefs and New Initiative Bids – Take ownership of drafting project briefs and initiating bids for civil infrastructure, minor traffic, and renewal programs.
- Plan and Implement Temporary Road Closures – Get involved in the planning and approval process for temporary road closures for events, road works, and other activities, ensuring smooth traffic flow and compliance.
