Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description
Reporting to the Station Design Manager, the Station Design Coordinator will:
- Review the shop drawings prepared by the Subcontractor’s Designers, with the support of the Discipline Lead Managers, in accordance with the Project Specifications and local standards. Review of shop drawing shall cover constructability, comparison of ratio with Design, interface with other designers (temporary works).
- Coordinate with other departments such as construction & methods team, to provide their review and comment in due time.
- Assist and prepare forecast of shop drawings review by the Designers
- Follow the Designer to track the progress of shop drawings review, response of RFI/NCR… in respect with the construction schedule
- Keep a proper follow up of the modifications table during construction (RFI…), or during construction (NCR/FCR…) in the view to prepare the As-built documentation.
- Provide all necessary inputs to track Designer’s cost, based on time and material during ESDC, to approve their monthly invoice.
- Coordinate and interface with other teams within the Design Team (Architecture, MEP…), and with other departments (construction, quality, means & methods…) addressing any potential conflicts in the most beneficial way for the project as a whole, during the shop drawing preparation
- Identify any change from the design (CD stage), with quantity variation for Design Manager review and proposal to the Project Management
- Other duties as applicable
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the detailed design of building and civil infrastructure projects (plan production and specifications).
- Sound knowledge on building design, and previous experience working in design teams or external consultants required.
- Knowledge and experience with Autodesk software (Civil 3D, Autocad, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM360), and other applicable common software in the field of transportation engineering
