About The OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a
Compartment and Completion Manager to work on the Hobart Class Destroyer (DDG) project, based in Osborne, SA.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
Reporting to the Ship Manager, the Compartment and Completion Manager is responsible for the management of Compartment handover, inspections, defect rectification and task completion. This position will be required to develop the processes and plans to ensure successful handover of the ship compartments during MATCON transfer and act as the Operations lead for ensuring all Production OQE and Quality requirements are achieved.
The Compartment and Completions Manager will manage a Team of Coordinators/Inspectors and will work closely with Production, Quality and Customer representatives.
Key activities:
The Compartment and Completion Manager will be required to work with the broader Ship Management and Trade Management Teams to ensure all inspection activities are coordinated safely and in time to support the delivery of the Production schedule.
The scope of this role will encompass the following:
- Acceptance of Compartments from the Customer
- Pre-Condition Audit inspections and survey reports
- Compartment access and key management
- Production Quality Control including routine inspections/audits
- Management of tank/void open/closure process
- Management of inspections and release for installation of false ceilings/bulkheads/floors
- Coordination of Quality/Customer inspection hold/witness points
- Track and manage rectification of trade defects and non-conformances
- Handover of compartments to Customer/Ship Staff
- Develop Open Reports/Interim Reports/Closing Reports
- Develop KPI's and report on Compartment status and Task Completion
- Manage closeout of Tasks via the TPCC completions certificate process.
About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in suitable Engineering OR proven equivalent Trade discipline or relevant experience
- Demonstrated Naval Shipbuilding Operations Management experience desired
- Demonstrated experience in a heavy engineering and/ or defence environment; including environmental considerations
- Demonstrated experience in leadership of multi-functional teams in a complex operating environment
- The ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business
- Knowledge of Shipbuilding processes, marine terminology and trade specifications
- Demonstrated experience in Inspection and Sell-off processes on complex programs
- Possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate defence security clearance and eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
