About The OPPORTUNITY
We currently have a rewarding opportunity to work with us as a Subcontract Manager within our Hunter Frigates Program based at Osborne. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working. This role is based at our Osborne Shipyard site.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Support the development of robust supplier sourcing strategies for the business by engaging with strategic sourcing and category management teams as appropriate
- Lead the Supply Chain elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and supplier contractual terms in line with customer requirements
- Lead the supplier evaluation process and support sourcing recommendations on behalf of the business
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations through effective subcontract management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, flow down of contract amendments
- Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with the suppliers, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach
- Lead, manage and develop team members to deliver the required Suitably Qualified Experience Personnel (SQEP) to meet the needs of the business
- Support the implementation of learning from experience practices within the team
- Generate and manage the Lifecycle Management (LCM) Procurement and Subcontract Management Plans
- Generate and manage Australian Industry Capability (AIC) plans in line with project requirements
- Implement and follow the procurement policies and processes as determined by the Supply Chain function, ensuring compliance with the relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards
About YOU
You'll have:
- Previous experience in delivery of assigned subcontracts, meeting time, cost, SHE, quality and certification requirements within the contract boundaries
- Experience in delivering weekly/monthly progress reporting against contract and financial delivery, including presentation of reporting to Program Control Account Mangers and Program Senior Leadership team
- Be able to support the ‘One Team' operating principle, which requires you to facilitate the integration of subcontractors into the Shipbuild and Integration delivery teams
- Previous experience in issue resolution for assigned subcontracts, including route cause analysis and delivery of return to green action plans, escalating as to the Line of Business Production Subcontracts Manager / Head of Supply Chain as required
- Management, mitigation and retirement of risk for assigned contracts
- Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite. Familiarity with tools like SharePoint and Oracle is desirable
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
