Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

The opportunity
Responsibilities
Newmont is currently seeking an experienced Superintendent to manage the camp and office facilities, flight administration and accommodation at our Tanami Operations. Working an 8/6 roster from either Darwin, Perth, Brisbane, Perth or Alice Springs, the position will report directly to the Human Resource Manager, and is responsible for the management, planning and coordination of the following areas:
- Tanami Twin Hills Accommodation Village;
- Tanami DBS Accommodation Village;
- Site Access Services;
- Janitorial and Catering Services (including contracting partners); and
- Site Administration function.
Purpose
The position manages all contracts and day to day activities of the above services and facilities and ensures compliance with all legal obligations and business best practices. In addition, the position also is responsible for the management of all costs to ensure budgets are maintained.

Duties Include But Not Limited To
- Manage activities of the Newmont Tanami Twin Hill & DBS Villages in accordance with strategic and operating objectives.
- Manage all site access related activities in accordance with policies and guidelines.
- Advise HR Manager and propose related strategies that would maximise the cost effective management of the asset, ensure the safe access of employees and create an environment which will increase our Employee Value Proposition.
- Assist with development and manage the current and forecast Capital Budget to life of mine expectations.
- Management of contractors associated with the daily operations and maintenance of the accommodation, village, site facilities, flights administration and site support administration
- Management of primary contractor – Village Contractor in terms of adherence to contractual obligations.
- Set up and maintain systems to monitor and report inappropriate behaviour and ensure safety, health and wellbeing of those utilising village facilities.
- Develop and mange village improvement plan
- Establish and maintain the relationships and key performance metrics Newmont Site Service Team to assist with maintenance activities in Village / Site Facilities / Flights and Mine Site.
About You
- Extensive experience working within the hospitality/village operations industry;
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field such as commerce/hospitality;
- Developed negotiation and contract management experience;
- Project management experience or qualifications desirable with the ability to develop and react to changing conditions;
- Village Operations or hospitality experience preferred;
- Advanced understanding on OHS policies and procedures, Minimum Cert IV OHS required;
- Effective communication and leadership skills
