About the Role:
The Process Operator will assist in the manufacturing of beta-carotene by operating the plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, as a relief plant operator / 4th summer operator.
The role will assist with laboratory testing, lake additions, data entry and minor plant maintenance as trained.
Predominantly day shift hours are 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. Must be available to work afternoon shifts when needed for coverage. Afternoon shift 3:00pm - 11:0pm and night shift 11:00pm - 7:00am.
Key Responsibilities:
- To operate the equipment and plant to manufacture product in accordance with documented procedures and as directed by the Manager
- To carry out goods receipt and dispatch, correct labelling and storage, along with housekeeping and general (non-expert) maintenance tasks as directed by the Manager
- To complete production data entry
- To notify management immediately whenever equipment defects or breakdowns are noted
- To record all data as required relating to the manufacturing processes and maintenance of plant and equipment
- To complete laboratory analysis as per approved methods, following safe chemical handling procedures
- To complete lake additions as per the schedule
- To participate in management system audits, inspections and documentation updates
- Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping operations as requested. Ensure a tidy & safe working environment. Clean up all spills in a timely manner
- To assist in the carrying out of stock takes in the production area
- To assist with lake sampling, dosing and gate changes
- To participate in site cleaning activities, and minor maintenance to buildings and structures
- To work and behave with due care for the consideration for the environment, the health and safety of yourself and to ensure that all team members observe safe working practices and to instruct them when necessary
- To use all recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals
- To take corrective action to combat unsafe practices or conditions whenever they arise and, as far as is possible, to anticipate and prevent hazards before they arise
- To observe and promote any company rules designed to ensure safety and prevent damage to the environment

Key Requirements:
- Previous experience of working in a production environment is an advantage
- Must have drivers licence and own vehicle
- Forklift driving/operator’s licence (LF)
