Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Engineer at Stassi Consulting Engineers, located in Whyalla, SA. The Engineer will be responsible for performing day-to-day engineering tasks such as project planning, design, analysis, and evaluation. They will also collaborate with other team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Design
- Create multiple designs for review by engineers and architects, ensuring all designs meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Add structural details to architectural plans, incorporating knowledge of building techniques and materials.
Calculations and Analysis:
- Perform complex calculations to determine loads, stresses, and stability of structures.
- Evaluate immediate and future demands on structures, ensuring designs can withstand these loads.
- Analyse the suitability of various construction materials and methods to achieve optimal structural integrity and cost-effectiveness.
Project Coordination:
- Liaise with architects, environmental scientists, landscape architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive project development.
- Coordinate with contractors, providing guidance and oversight to ensure construction adheres to design specifications.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns promptly.
Site Investigation and Inspection:
- Conduct thorough site investigations to assess soil suitability and other site conditions for construction projects.
- Monitor and inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with design plans and safety standards.
- Perform inspections of existing structures to evaluate their condition and recommend necessary refurbishments or repairs.
Technical Support and Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive reports, design documentation, and technical drawings.
- Ensure all documents are accurately numbered and updated, adhering to Stassi Consulting Engineers' policies.
- Provide technical advice and support to clients, project teams, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Promote a culture of safety within the workplace, identifying and addressing potential hazards proactively.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Quality Assurance (QA) principles.
Client and Team Interaction:
- Maintain a high level of customer service, building and sustaining productive relationships with clients.
- Attend and contribute to weekly operations meetings, providing updates on project progress and any issues.
- Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
Additional Duties:
- Assist in geotechnical testing (soil testing), surveying, and scientific testing as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Proficiency in engineering design software and tools
- Experience in project planning, design, and evaluation
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
- Preferably a member of Engineers Australia
- Experience in the construction or consulting industry is beneficial
- AutoCAD experience is beneficial
Other Requirements:
- DCSI Screening and background checks may be required.
