We are looking for a Bricklayer to assist with the maintenance of Kiln Cars at our Austral Bricks plant in Wollert, VIC.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of kiln cars, including cleaning and replacement of blocks, in line with the site’s Kiln Car Repair Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area, including the kiln car repair and cleaning area, while ensuring compliance with all WHS policies and procedures.
- Perform daily routine inspections of all kiln cars.
- Carry out routine block alignment and replacement on kiln cars in the system.
- Inspect and maintain soft seals on both the front and back of kiln cars.
- Check kiln cars for any damage to blocks or other materials and report any findings.
- Assist in completing full car rebuilds, including tasks such as:
o Stripping old materials.
o Replacing soft seals on both front and back of the car.
o Installing materials like Castable and Cal-Sil boards, Vermiculite, Kao Wool, and Scoria.
o Installing blocks to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Conduct quality checks on all completed kiln car repairs.
Success Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role is desired but not essential.
- Bricklayer Trade qualification preferred but not essential.
- Experience in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred.
- Strong commitment to following company policies and safety procedures.
- Ability to perform housekeeping and routine cleaning of the work area.
