Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description
Are you passionate about ensuring the quality and durability of precast concrete for underground construction projects? Our company, specializing in underground tunnelling and infrastructure development, is seeking a meticulous and skilled Precast Concrete Quality Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting various tests, inspections, and activities related to concrete quality control at a precast concrete plant to ensure that the elements produced for our project meet industry standards and specified requirements.
The location of this role is TBD but will be in the EAST GTA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precast Elements Quality Control
- Randomly select and witness dimensional controls by the segment manufacturer on a minimum of three (3) segments for every week of production.
- Witness QC inspection by the segment manufacturer on the finished segments
- Witness QC checks on dimensions of the formwork
- Witness and report repairs on segments a systematic basis
- Review of all 3D checks carried out throughout production (on moulds and/or segments)
- Concrete and Materials Sampling and Testing
- Witness QC sampling and testings on concrete on a random basis
- Witness QC sampling and testings on aggregate gradation, Bolt anchor inserts, bolts, and washers (bolt system), Grout socket system, Dowels, Guiding rods, Gaskets, Steel fibres, Segment curing and stripping, Concrete test reports
- Review of concrete test reports before issuance
- Review of curing temperature charts before issuance
- Review of batch reports including concrete mix component weights on a random basis before issuance
- Carryout the bi-weekly QA sampling and testing on the concrete and deliver the samples to the 3rd party laboratory
- Production Reporting and Coordination
- Review of the weekly segment production history dockets and reports before issuance
- Inspect the storage condition of the segments before delivery to the site
- Verify the release of each segment before shipment using the project's segment traceability / tracking system, and that all documentation associated is available
- Report deviations from approved procedures, if not reported by the segment manufacturer
- Issue a weekly production report of activities carried out by the manufacturer during the week
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in concrete quality control, testing, or inspection.
- Familiarity with CSA, PCI or equivalent standards is an asset.
- Knowledge of concrete mix designs and sieve analysis is an asset.
- Familiarity with precast concrete production processes and quality control measures.
- Computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding and reading of specifications and blueprints is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Safety oriented
- Experience with 3D scanning technology and software (e.g., Autodesk Recap, Faro Scene) for underground concrete elements is an asset.
