Geritz Dairies Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Dairy Cattle Famer Operator to join our team at our Wooroonden, QLD location in a full-time position. In this role, you will play a vital role in co-ordinating and improving the day-to-date functioning of our dairy cattle farm.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Operate milking plant and equipment and perform manual milking at times if needed, maintaining hygiene and efficiency.
- Accurately read, interpret and record instrument information, including milk temperature, and cattle health and headcount.
- Identify and report risks related to equipment and plants and develop strategies to mitigate the risks.
- Facilitate and monitor the health and well-being of livestock, including drenching, vaccinations, treatments and regular check-ups.
- Prepare and distribute feed, ensuring proper nutrition for the herd.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment and machinery.
- Manage and have sound knowledge of breeding programs, including artificial insemination and natural breeding.
- Facilitate and manage transition from a total mixed ration feeding system to a pasture feeding system, including preparing, cultivating and maintaining pastures.
- Ensure cleanliness of barns, milking parlours and equipment.
- Oversee budgeting, accounting and financial planning related to farm operations.
- Collect and analyse accurate records of milk production, breeding cycles, health issues and feed consumption.
- Operate computerised systems to ensure accurate manual data entry.
- Supervise and train farm workers, delegating tasks and ensuring productivity.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations and industry standards for animal welfare, food safety and environmental protection.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Qualifications in or related to agriculture.
- Have strong problem-solving skills and exceptional focus.
