Shutte & Kennard has a range of exciting projects to be delivered, with a few larger projects, innovative designs and many trusted regular clients bringing in a wide variety of work, extending into Sydney, Rural NSW and Victoria.
The Responsibilities
SKCE is looking for a Civil Engineer to join the team. You will be involved in every stage of our projects from the initial bid & design development through to construction and providing design certification. You will be expected to take ownership of these projects and liaise with key stakeholders, such as architects, builders and contractors. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to building and establishing relationships that would lead to additional work for the business.
The nature of the projects that SKCE typically work on require a level of innovation and open-mindedness to develop an effective and efficient solution for our clients, whilst balancing budget and expectations. - Planning and owning the delivery of general civil, earthworks, urban development, sports complexes, at-grade carparks, stormwater, drainage designs and calculations
- Leading and contributing to the preparation of proposals and bids for projects
- Providing creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities
- Coordinating the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members Working with and building relationships with different clients from State to Local Government and private clients
- Playing a key role in building and growing our Civil Team
- Assist with providing provision of civil solutions and development of interrelationships with surface water management and flood risk teams as well as our major roads business and water infrastructure business
What You Will Bring To The Team
- Proven excellence at all stages of the project life-cycle, from preparing bids to feasibility assessments, consenting, concept and detailed design, data analysis, and stakeholder management
- Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems to brief and budget
- A business and relationship development attitude to enhance our client portfolio and project delivery
- Bring strong technical skills with a keen interest in Design Management and Project Management to lead and deliver civil projects
- Bring a broad variety of skills based on a variety of project experience including roads, mining, land development and stormwater infrastructure
- Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
- An interest in coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen the team capabilities
- As we are a global company and are seeking to build our connected global network throughout our offices in other countries, experience working in both the Australian and another global market would be highly regarded
- Relevant tertiary qualification
Skills and Experience
In order to be considered for the role, you will need to possess the following key skills and qualifications;
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
- Min 2+ years' experience within Civil Engineering
- Strong academic understanding in engineering fundamentals.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian standards
- Experienced in 2D CAD preferred
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Very strong communication and report writing skills
- Driver's licence and car
