Mechanical Fitter - Rolling Stock Maintenance Location: Townsville, QLD Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Shift: Day Shift, 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday About the Role: UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance site in Townsville is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter with expertise in locomotive, wagon, or passenger carriage (rolling stock) maintenance and overhaul to join our dynamic team. This permanent, full-time position will see you working day shifts, reporting to the Service Delivery Manager. Your key responsibilities will include conducting maintenance, overhauls, and general workshop duties on rolling stock. Key Responsibilities: - Perform maintenance, servicing, and overhaul work on locomotives, wagons, or passenger carriages. - Read, interpret, and work from plans, diagrams, and technical specifications. - Conduct assembly, disassembly, and component maintenance following best practices. - Participate in general workshop duties and contribute to the safe, efficient operations of the team. About You: To be successful in this role, you should bring the following skills and experience: - Trade qualification or equivalent in mechanical fitting. - Proven experience working within the rail industry, especially in rolling stock. - Solid understanding of assembly and maintenance of machinery and equipment. - Knowledge of manufacturing and component overhaul processes. - Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately. - Additional certifications such as Forklift, Crane, or Confined Space would be advantageous, though not essential. - Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and time management skills. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
