Job Summary

With a rapid growth in mobile crushing services in the past 6 years, Nitro Crushing is looking for a suitable experienced and qualified person to fill the role of Production/Operations Manager. The role will report to the General Manager and the Managing Director and work closely with the administration and maintenance teams to ensure smooth and productive operations of sites. The role will be pivotal in managing and steering sites after contract award to contract completion, while ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder engagement. The role will be based in Cairns with a substantial amount of travel to remote sites. Opportunity exists for this role to play a large part in the future direction of a dynamic and growth orientated company.

Key responsibilities

Work with site supervisors to ensure smooth management of operations from contract award to contract completion
Oversee day to day mining and quarrying operations over multiple sites.
Build and maintain teams to ensure operational success
Build capacity in current staff to promote continual improvement
Budget and financial planning for operational activities
Ensure compliance with all levels of regulatory authorities
Develop mutually beneficial relationships with clients to ensure all stakeholders are heard
Manage the production staff including rostering, annual leave requests, backfilling rosters, and training requirements
Development and implementation of strategic plans
Development and implementation or adaption of operational systems supportive of company and client requirements
work closely with administrative, maintenance and crushing teams.

The Applicant

A current SSE or be able to obtain for 20-person quarry site
5 years of experience in a similar role
Experience in overseeing multiple sites
Be able to demonstrate the skills listed to full fill the role
Sound knowledge of the quarrying and mining industries including specifications.
Strong record in implementing and maintaining safety management systems on multiple sites
Have a willingness to be on site and mentor site supervisors
Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
Be able to present relevant information to staff in formats they understand and relate to
Be trustworthy and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
