Mills Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and professional Civil Designer for a 3-month contract opportunity with our client in Brisbane. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, particularly in greenfield projects, and experience in the mining and minerals processing sector.

Our client operates across Australia, delivering projects in all states and territories. Their diverse portfolio includes work in mines, minerals processing facilities, LNG installations, refineries, chemical plants, power stations, procurement services, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Job Summary
As part of this team, you’ll contribute to a greenfield copper concentrator project in Queensland. Your responsibilities will involve planning, developing, and quality-checking civil design work, producing 3D models, drawings, and documentation, as well as preparing quantity take-offs for estimating.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review civil design tasks within a small team for projects of medium size.
- Create 3D models, drawings, and documentation according to civil standards for earthwork, road, and drainage structures.
- Prepare civil design estimates and work plans that align with project scope, budget, and timeline, ensuring implementation meets set standards.
- Review and check civil engineering sketches and drawings from designers and drafters.
- Ensure designs comply with installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- Collaborate and coordinate daily with engineers, designers, and drafters on technical work.
- Engage in technical discussions with third parties, including clients and suppliers.
- Provide input on Engineering Department Procedures, design guides, Standard Computer Applications, and administrative practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in civil design.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads software
