About the role
The Mechanical Technician Shift/Relief will contribute to the reliability and safe operation of NPM’s fixed plant and equipment by carrying out the mechanical maintenance of the UG and OPD Departments. You will ensure the execution of the daily mechanical work within the Northparkes Business Unit, to achieve the desired level of productivity, profitability, unit cost and improvements whilst ensuring adherence to Northparkes Mines principles, guidelines and values.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completion of daily mechanical maintenance activities to achieve the maintenance plan as directed by the Mechanical Team Leader
- Perform mechanical repairs of equipment during planned shutdowns
- Plan day to day workload to ensure that schedule compliance for the mechanical work group is achieved
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance inspections of materials handling equipment including SAG and Ball Mills, Crushing plants, Conveyors, Pumps as well as other service equipment such as process and potable water supply systems, air reticulation and Ventilation fans.
- Coordinate appropriate time slots and resource requirements for carrying out maintenance tasks and equipment modifications to be undertaken.
About you
- General knowledge of the Mining Industry along with demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience in maintaining or exposure to fixed plant such as SAG mills, ball mills, crushers, conveyors, hoisting systems and pumps.
- Ability to work in a highly autonomous work environment with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Well-developed written and communication skills.
- Strong commitment towards safety and quality and flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Trade qualifications in Fabrication, Fitter Machinist, Welding, or Boilermaking
- SAP experience advantageous, however not necessary.
